As I shift my focus from 2019 to 2020, I have chosen a focus word for the new year. It is….wait for it….FOCUS.
Either that, or VISION.
Whatever. They go hand in hand, don’t they?
I can’t be the only one who picks FOCUS or VISION for 2020, but that’s OK. It’s not a competition.
I told my PONM group that my word was going to be FOCUS.
Then I forgot, and wrote this toast just now, emphasizing my VISION for peace in the New Year:
A TOAST TO 2020
Here’s to peace in the New Year.
Peace at home.
Peace in the world.
And here’s to 20/20 vision
for creating peace where we can,
by tweaking our daily habits,
by adjusting our expectations,
by fixing (or letting go of)
what is broken,
by voting our consciences,
by speaking our minds…
…and for seeing clearly the situations in which we have no control.
Focus and Vision
So, I’m using FOCUS as a verb, and VISION as a noun.
I’ll bet there’s not a problem you’re having, or a goal that you’re working towards, where having a VISION and FOCUS-ing on it won’t be helpful in solving the problem or reaching the goal.
It can be something huge like starting a business, combining families, resolving a health issue, or writing a book.
Peace in the New Year
As for peace…..there’s not a blog post I’ve written that does not contribute to peace in some way for the right person at the right time.
What about peace in your family: Clutter Counseling: Are You an Odd Couple? Or, 10 Ways to Trick Your Family into Being Organized…? Or, peace within: What are you worried about? Don’t worry — Take Action! Or, Always Believe in Yourself. Adjusting your Facebook feed can contribute to peace as well.
If you can’t find what you’re looking for on my website (don’t forget there’s a Search box on the Blog tab), please let me know what you’re struggling with. I will either help you myself, or point you in the right direction.
Last year (2019) my focus word was LEVERAGE. I’d say I did pretty well with it, and I’m currently FOCUS-ing on LEVERAGE-ing my interests, knowledge, and experience with photos, memorabilia, and family history, by writing a book called What’s a Photo Without the Story? (What I have linked to here is the inspiration blog post.) My VISION is that it will encourage you to share your photos and tell your family stories, even — especially — if you are not a genealogist, or an organizer, or a writer. Sound interesting?
(My 2018 word, if you’re curious, was CONNECT.)
What is YOUR focus word for the year? I’d love to know!
If you picked one last year, how did it work out for you?
