MORE Joyscrolling

I was struggling to put together my February newsletter.
My writing group asked: What do you usually do when you’re stuck on what to include?
I replied: Well, usually I have a new blog post to offer. But I haven’t been inspired to write a new one lately.
Then I remembered that I’d been gathering ideas for a new post and just forgot about it in the fog of personal, national, and global uncertainty. And then I found that writing about joyscrolling cheered me up, at least momentarily! Maybe one of these accounts I’m sharing will help cheer you up, too.
For your convenience, here’s a link to my previous Joyscrolling post (which explains what it is and why I’m writing about it):
Joyscrolling for your viewing pleasure
YouTube Accounts
As before, even if I discovered the content creator on TikTok or elsewhere, I tried to find the corresponding account on YouTube because it seems more stable and accessible than the other social media platforms do these days.
.
India Rose Crawford
Is there anything sweeter and cozier than the world of Frog and Toad?
I think not!

.
K9 Konvoy
This account is as simple as it gets. It’s all about the dogs. They are so excited to go on their regular bus outing with their friends. They run around in the woods together. They load back onto the bus and get treats. One of them is named Hazel (they all have different schedules, so she’s not in every video).

.
Kathleen’s Cravings
All I’ve seen on Facebook is her Single Serving treat posts. I see now that she cooks other things as well.

.
Mary Frances
Mary Frances is the oldest daughter of two famous fiddlers. This article contains the video that first introduced me to her. She had broken her wrist and her dad helps her perform on stage by bowing the notes she is fingering with her good hand. They are both amazing! In this video you learn that every single member of the large, fun, family is also a fiddler.

.
Finniature Schnauzer
Adorable Finn loves to run. He waits for the signal: “On your mark…Get set…GO!!!” His fans love to suggest ways to try and trip him up: “Say Goat, or Bow, or Go Go Dancing” — but he always waits for GO!!!

.
Massimo Mandato
This TikTok creator is known for his “I look like everyone” series, where he reacts to followers’ suggestions that he resembles various celebrities and fictional characters. He looks more like some than others, but many of the comparisons are quite accurate and amusing.

.
Apollo and Frens
Apollo is an African Grey parrot. I’ve been keeping tabs on him for a few years now. It’s amazing how much he has learned in that time, enough to earn an entry into the Guiness Book of World Records for the most items (12) identified by a parrot in three minutes. I noticed in this video that he is, indeed, naming items, but I know he can also tell you what each item is made of, and what color it is.

Lisa Cornwell
Lisa paints tiny plein air paintings that mimic the view so closely that you can’t even see them until she stands in back of them or moves them.

Thank you for sharing these! I don’t tend to watch a lot of videos, but I enjoy scrolling my Instagram feed to see the beautiful photos posted by the people I follow. One of my favourites is @hiyapapayaphotoaday, where various moderators create grids of four photos posted by their followers – I love seeing not just the individual shots but the way they find ones that go so well together!
Ooh, I just scrolled thru @hiyapapayaphotoaday on Instagram. I LOVE the recent “Shades of Blue” prompt section!
Wow, that’s great, Hazel. I never heard of any of these YouTube Accounts. Though I do not go on YouTube that often. I hope you are doing well.
I never go straight to YouTube unless I want to know how to do something. Most of these I follow elsewhere (Facebook, Instagram, TikTok), but many creators have YouTube accounts these days in addition to their other accounts. I searched for those to share because YouTube seems more stable and accessible than the other social media platforms do these days.
All of these looks so interesting and positive – definite candidates for Joyscrolling!
That fiddling is amazing. What a great Dad!!
I also love Frog and Toad. I have many happy memories of reading these books to my children, and then watching the animated versions. Her little crocheted creatures take me back… “Drat!”
I have watched the K9 Konvoy. It makes me realize how dogs really are instinctually programmed to operate as a group. I have also watched another guy who rescues dogs and takes them back to his (large) farm where they live and go on “pack walks.” Being with other dogs really helps the rescued ones with anxiety and fear. It’s amazing!
Nice to have some positive distraction online, and more importantly to know how to find it!
Speaking of dogs, do you follow Rocky Kanaka? He rescues dogs, too. (He doesn’t do “pack walks” unless it’s recent and I’ve missed it.) There is quite often (but not always) a “feel good” payoff, but to really appreciate what he does requires a time investment, like 20-40 min per post. (There are some shorter ones, but they don’t show the whole process.)
Single Serve Brown Butter Chocolate Chip Cookies? This post would have been a winner even if Kathleen’s Cravings were the only introduction you made. Yum! I’m going to be living on her YouTube page for a while!
I’m not even an animal person, but Finniature Schnauzer is such a funny name that I’d have liked it even if the pup weren’t so adorable. The K9 Konvoy doggies are also very cute, and Apollo is unexpectedly giggle-worthy.
At first, I didn’t understand about Massimo, and I didn’t even know who some of the people he was referencing were, but the more I watched, the more delighted I was. He DOES look like all those people. Too funny.
I’ll need to take more time to appreciate Mary Frances’ music and Lisa Cornewell’s art (but Lisa broke my brain in one of these, moving her tripod out of the way to show that what I thought was real was her art blended with reality).
These are great, and I look forward to much joyful scrolling. Thank you!
I forgot to mention Frog & Toad. I love those little guys!
I’m glad you enjoyed them!
