Org4life’s 15 Best Blog Posts Ever

I’ve contributed a lot to this worthwhile blog carnival!

As part of my celebration of 15 years in the organizing biz, I’ve put together this list of my 15 best blog posts for you. (Oops, I already couldn’t resist sneaking an extra one in with a link!)

Here are Hazel's choices of her best 15 blog posts ever, to celebrate 15 years of being Organized for Life. Click To Tweet

What makes a blog post one of my “best”? Well, I chose them all for different reasons, but it could be that…

  • It got a lot of hits according to my website stats.
  • Many people posted comments on the post itself.
  • I received many comments on social media, or in person.
  • It touched people more than the others did.
  • It’s a topic my clients ask about all the time.
  • It was shared more than the others were.
  • It is “cornerstone content” that links to some of my other “best” posts.
  • It was the basis for, or the result of, a successful speaking engagement.
  • It’s one of my personal favorites.

Here they are….(ugh, this is hard, with over 200 to choose from!)….

The End of an Era: RIP George

Thank you!

Your questions and challenges (especially those of my clients) inspire me to blog.

Your comments and appreciation keep me blogging.

I hope that my writing has helped you, whether it be all of my posts over the years, or one in particular.

(Shameless plug: I’m writing a book to encourage everyone to tell their family stories, even — especially? — if they are not a genealogist, or an organizer, or a writer. Each section includes “how to” ideas for different levels of interest, and wherewithal — time, money, and energy. It’s called, “What’s a Photo Without the Story?” Sound interesting?)

Do you have a favorite?

Which blog post would you add to the list?

Is there a post on the list that you have not read, and plan to now?

I’d love to know!

How wonderful to look back and see all you have written! It is hard to know the impact that blogging has, as many who read never comment. Still, when people mention something we’ve said, it really feels terrific. I have enjoyed your blog for many years, and I wish you continued writing success in the years to come!

    • Hazel Thornton on January 30, 2020 at 10:43 am

Thanks, Seana! Although I appreciate very much the comments on the blog, and the shares on social media, it is those moments where someone tells me more privately — and casually, like I shouldn’t be surprised, not some big confession — that they read all my posts, or that a particular post meant something to them, that make me think, “Huh! I had no idea you were reading my stuff!”

Congratulations again on reaching your 15th anniversary! That’s an incredible milestone and accomplishment. It must have been fun going back to decide which favorite posts to include. I love how you used more than one parameter to make your decisions.

I always enjoy ALL of your posts, but of the list you shared, the one about worry was one of my favorites. It can be so unproductive and having tools to move past the worry is helpful.

I missed your post from last week, so in reading the list, I read about George. I am so sorry for your loss. Your stories and photos of him are wonderful. I can only imagine how heavy your heart is.

Thanks for all your kind comments, Linda!

This is a great round-up of many of your informative and entertaining blogs. My favorite is definitely the “My Kondo-lences and sincere Kon-gratulations!” article. I remember reading that last year and loving it when you first posted it! Congratulations on 15 years in the organizing business!

    • Hazel Thornton on January 30, 2020 at 10:36 am

      Thanks, Nancy!

Hazel, I remember all of these posts! I’m not sure I could pick a favorite, though Mom’s Boxes is a series I hold near and dear to my heart. But since you and I have a lot of thoughts in common about a certain organizing-related celebrity, “I might have to pick My Kondo-lences and sincere Kon-gratulations!” as my number one!

    • Hazel Thornton on January 30, 2020 at 10:36 am

Awww… I wish my mom could have gotten to know some of my social media friends and organizing buddies the way your mom has!

  5. Janet Barclay on January 28, 2020 at 5:41 am

I love your blog and couldn’t possibly pick a favorite – but I am definitely interested in reading your upcoming book!

    • Hazel Thornton on January 30, 2020 at 9:59 am

Aw, thanks, Janet! You didn’t start me blogging, but you certainly kept me going at times, with your Blogging Organizers group, and Blog Carnival opportunities. Thank you!
