8 Motivational Quotes for an Auspicious New Year

?????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????Rather than telling you what I hope…I mean, resolve…to accomplish in the New Year, I want to tell you how I plan to keep myself motivated.

It’s easy for me to set goals, even S.M.A.R.T. Goals, and then forget later why they were so important. (It is just me?) I even have an entire New Year & Goal Setting Resource Roundup page on my website!

8 Motivational Quotes for an Auspicious New Year Click To Tweet

So I gathered together some of my favorite inter-related motivational quotes to share with you:

Do something today that your future self will thank you for. – Unknown

Never give up on a dream just because of the time it will take to accomplish it. The time will pass anyway. – Earl Nightingale

If you think you can, or you think you can’t, you’re right. – Henry Ford (mentioned in several Org4life blog posts, including this one)

A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step. — Lao-tzu

The best time to plant a tree is twenty years ago. The second best time is now. – Chinese Proverb

A year from now you will wish you had started today. – Karen Lamb

A bird sitting on a tree is never afraid of the branch breaking because her trust is not on the branch, but on her own wings. Always believe in yourself. — Unknown (discussed further in this Org4life blog post)

Progress equals happiness. – Tony Robbins (discussed further in this Org4life blog post)

What do you think? I’m motivated…are you? I’m going to print out images of each quote and post them where I can see them. I have done you the favor of “Google Imaging” each quote (and linking to the results — just click on each one to see what I mean) so you will have your choice of images to print out and post where you can see them too. Let me know if it works for you, OK?

Please share your favorite inspirational or motivational quote in the comments. (It could be one of these, or a completely different one.) Thanks!

UPDATE: I originally wrote this in 2015. I wanted to use 5 or 7 quotes. But it turned out to be 8. Then I realized that 2+0+1+5 = 8 numerology-wise, and remembered that 8 is also a lucky number in Chinese culture. But the quotes are just as motivational now as they were then! (I looked it up: auspicious = conducive to success.)

I sometimes look back on decisions I made not to pursue something because it would take to long, and realize that I’d have completed it by now… Time goes much faster than we think!

I know what you mean! But…don’t forget to give yourself credit for the things you DID accomplish during that time.

Great quotes, Hazel! Very inspiring. I like “A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step. — Lao-tzu” – This is one of my favorite quotes. Taking action is so important.

I love that Tony Robbins quote! I frequently say something similar to my clients that ‘Progress is better than perfection.’ Not sure who that one’s by. I’ll have to start mentioning this one too. Thanks for the inspiring post!

I’ve always loved this quote by Sally Koch: “Great opportunities to help others seldom come, but small ones surround us every day.” It’s such a powerful reminder to me that working steadily day by day is powerful.
